THE BEST IN THE WEST

A yearly event usually during November, for 2009 its the Saturday 7th November, the Best in the West is a fun one day tournament at Doc's House in Jolly Harbour.

Fishermen starting from all over Antigua, have lines in at 5.00am and have to be back at the Doc's Dock with their catch by 3.30pm.

PRIZES

• Champion Boat - based on most poundage.
• Champion boat under 25ft - based on most poundage.
• Biggest fish caight by a (1) Male (2) Female (3) Youth
• Special: Biggest snapper or grouper (over 10 lbs).  Note: The weight of this fish does not count towards most poundage.

No Marlin /Sailfish/ Barracuda / Shark

NEW THIS YEAR

A CALCUTTA –  “put EC$100 in the pot. Largest wahoo takes the lot.”
Monies must be deposited with Dr. Charles before 5th Nov in order to be eligible            

Last year, 18 boats entered, 713 lbs of fish were caught. Remember the weather was baaaaaaaad. Champion Boat was “Nightwing “ with a crew of ‘first-timers’ Captained by Mike Pigott.

Even if you are not yet into fishing, there is still plenty to come for afterwards at Doc’s Dock with food and drink available for purchase while you view the day’s catch and some of the fresh fish will be on sale.  

Bring the whole family and enjoy a special day out.
Lunch -EC$ 20.00 per plate. Hamburgers- EC$ 10.00. 
Drinks - EC$ 5.00 for regular hard  EC$15.00 for JW Black / 5YRCavalier and other specialty drinks.
